There's been a new bar opening every week in Leeds (I'm only slightly exaggerating) and one of the more recent ones is Slate NQ. I was kindly invited for a night of cocktails, pizza and pool which seems like a recipe for a great time by anyone's standards!
We started by ordering a couple of beautiful cocktails (Authorised Persuasion and Grape Expectations, if you must know) and a large pizza each.
I opted for the smoked cured ham (with goats cheese and roasted artichoke) and David went for the bresaola, which is dried beef to you and me. The pizzas defeated
David us by a mere couple of slices; next time I'd definitely have a large pizza and a couple of sides to share instead!
Their menu extends beyond pizzas too, including lots of nibbles and sharing platters perfect to snack on alongside a game of pool.

When we'd had our fill - it took us a while - the lovely chap who was serving took us over to the pool tables. We spent the next hour sipping more fantastically named cocktails and getting furiously competitive. Take a look at their menus here and tell me you don't want to try a 'Yorkshire Rose'.
I'm a huge fan of the laid back bars we have in Leeds now. You don't have to search for a pub to get a decent drink and a good atmosphere anymore.
Some pool bars can be pretty expensive, however Slate NQ charges £4 per half hour for pool off-peak. Sure, it's not your average 50p per game but you can't have a meat and cheese platter whilst playing at your local pub now, can you? And, it's cheaper than Roxy Ball Room.
Huge thanks to Slate NQ for having us and treating us superbly. If you're a fan of a chilled out atmosphere, huge pizzas and cocktail puns galore then check out Slate Nq in Leeds' new Northern Quarter. I've already decided it's better than Call Lane.
Slate NQ and PG provided us a discounted meal, pool and drinks night but all opinions are my own and unbiased. I lost at pool, by the way.
